Blueberries are an excellent natural antiseptic and antibiotic. Because of this, they are actively used for coughs and various throat diseases.
The beneficial properties of blueberries are also used in cosmetology. Preparations and products containing this berry are good for moisturizing the skin as well as for fighting inflammation.
Blueberry infusion is used in folk medicine for chronic diarrhea, as well as for diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. This berry is effective for inflammatory processes in the oral cavity, combats tonsillitis and rheumatism.
Blueberries contain a large amount of antioxidants, which act on cancer at the cellular level and prevent its spread. Therefore, blueberries are an excellent means of cancer prevention.


It has also been proven that blueberries have a very good effect on people with diabetes. The leaves and stems of blueberries contain substances that regulate blood sugar levels.
Blueberries and drinks made from them are used for the prevention of thrombosis and myocardial infarction. Thanks to their anticoagulant content, the fruit reduces blood clotting.
For anemia, blueberry infusion is recommended: pour one cup of boiling water over 2 teaspoons of dried berries, let it stand for 2 hours, strain, divide into equal portions, and drink 3–4 times a day.
For gastritis (inflammation of the stomach lining), heartburn, enteritis (inflammation of the small intestine lining), diarrhea, and dysentery, a blueberry decoction is indicated: pour 2 cups of hot water over 1 tablespoon of dried berries, place on a steam bath for 10 minutes, strain, and take warm, undiluted, a quarter cup 4 times a day before meals.
For diarrhea and gastritis with low acidity, a blueberry leaf infusion is useful: pour 2 cups of boiling water over 3–4 teaspoons of crushed dried leaves and leave in a thermos for 4–5 hours. Take half or a quarter cup 4–5 times a day, 15–20 minutes before meals.
For hemorrhoids, blueberry leaf infusion enemas are recommended (60 ml for each procedure).
It is also effective to apply crushed berries thickly on hemorrhoidal nodes.
In cases of urolithiasis (kidney stones), for both treatment and prevention, and also before surgery when the type of stones has not been determined, patients are advised to drink blueberry infusion. It is recommended to take it 4 times a day, in equal portions, 60–100 ml each time.
